June is a busy time, with school letting out, foals arriving, playdays, shows, rodeos and sortings in full swing. There is something going on all of the time here at the ranch.
June 5 is a playday at 6:30 p.m., He Reigns Arena. This is the last one in the spring belt buckle series. The grandkids are, thus far, in the Top Five for their 0-8 Assisted Division.
June 6 is a team sorting at 9:00 a.m., He Reigns Arena. If you haven't been to or in a team sorting - you are missing the fun! 50 cattle, 100 riders, two round pens and a stop watch. Everything goes well until the cattle haven't considered the proper procedure. Oftentimes, the cattle win ![]()
June 9-13 - Region 9 Championship Show, Will Rogers Equestrian Center. Yours truly is, once again, the Gatekeeper in the Main Ring. It's early morning until late nights - getting a several hundred riders into their appropriate classes on time and in an orderly fashion. Sounds easy - not so. But it's all fun.
June 20 is an open horse show, the second in a four-part belt buckle series, He Reigns Arena. Classes begin at 9:30 a.m. Laurie C. is our judge this time around.
Two foals are due in June out of Lauryn and Miragold, by Rio and Sun Dancer, respectively. These are both mare's first time to foal at Honey Creek - we are eagerly awaiting their foals' arrivals.
Happy 60th Birthday to Ben on June 26!! Poppa Ben is a precious person - we wish him many many more happy birthdays!
June 27 is the Texas Rodeo United rodeo at He Reigns Arena. All the action starts at 7 p.m. From mutton busting to open bull riding - there is something for all ages.
Gotta run for now ... playday and team sorting are calling my name.
Have a blessed rest of the week.
